Bentley Sloan Whittlesey

October 23, 2019 – December 28, 2023

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Bentley Sloan Whittlesey, who was called home to the Lord on December 28, 2023. Bentley was born on October 23, 2019, and came into the lives of his mother, Kaytlin and grandmother, Kelly, when they needed him most.

Bentley was a special little boy who was full of energy and had a contagious love of life that could make anyone around him smile. Bentley loved Paw Patrol, Spiderman, and watching big machines like excavators. He loved dinosaurs, nerf guns and every single thing about his Uncle Parker.

Bentley is survived by his mother, Kaytlin Whittlesey; grandparents, Kelly and Chad Allen and Nathan Whittlesey; great-great-grandmother, Lorraine Bertinot; great- grandparents, Beverly and Michael Bertinot, Bill and Helene Thompson, Jan and Mike Turner; uncles, Austin Whittlesey, Parker Allen, and Brayden Allen; aunt, Mandilyn Allen; great uncles, Cody Thompson, Kegan Thompson and Antonio Thompson; great-aunt, Mehgan Thompson Perez-Acosta; great-uncle, Carlos Perez-Acosta; cousins, Ava Perez-Acosta and Nora Perez-Acosta; great-great-aunt, Lawanna Folse; great-great-uncle, Craig Folse; as well as numerous additional aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends.

Bentley is preceded in death by great-great-grandfather, William Thompson Sr; great-great-grandmother, Violanda Thompson; great-great-grandmother, Dorothy Sanders; great-great-grandfather, Lonnie Sanders; great-great-grandfather, Neil Bertinot and great-grandad, Jonathan Allen.

It is with heartfelt gratitude and deepest appreciation that we thank the following for their unbelievable response to the situation and for their heroic life saving efforts. Because of you, our little boy held on until we could be with him:

Austin Whittlesey, Ouachita Parish Fire Dept (WOHS and Caples Rd), Ouachita Parish Fire Dept (Cheniere-Drew), Louisiana State Police, Acadiana Ambulance, Glenwood Hospital ER, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ochsner LSU Shreveport Pediatric Trauma Surgeon Dr. Tolentino and the entire Pediatric ICU Department.

Pallbearers will be Chad Allen, Austin Whittlesey, Parker Allen, Carlos Perez- Acosta, Tyler Spigner and Caleb Salas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ms. Brittney’s Class (Discovery Club) as well as all the parents and staff of Claiborne Christian Preschool.

A very special thanks to Believe and Achieve Therapy, Therapists, Emily Moore and Caroline Slaughter and the entire staff.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Claiborne Christian Preschool Building Project in Bentley’s honor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at WFR Church in West Monroe with David Bromley and Paul Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at WFR Church in West Monroe.

Bentley,

There are not enough words to begin to tell you what an impact your life had in the four short years you were on this earth. The number of lives you touched is immeasurable. Your smile and memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know you. You will forever be our precious baby boy.

We will find joy in remembering a quote from one of your favorites, Dr. Seuss “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it’s happened.”
