It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Whittlesey Sr., a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this life at the age of 66. Born and raised in Columbus, GA, Terry attended Muskogee County public schools, where he began to cultivate the diverse skill set that would define his life.
An experienced truck driver, Terry also worked as a carpet installer and a plumber, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit through various ventures. In 1999, he moved to Delaware, where he met the love of his life, Myra. Their bond grew stronger, culminating in a beautiful marriage in August 2014. Together, they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Terry had a passion for antique and fast cars, and he and Myra were known for their love of travel and hosting vibrant gatherings. Their parties were legendary, and they truly embodied the phrase "the hostess with the most-est." Terry had a remarkable ability to teach, guiding others through his words without needing to be present, always emphasizing the importance of being a good listener.
A man of style, Terry loved to dress sharply, with Myra often coordinating outfits from head to toe. His warm and sociable nature allowed him to make friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression through his humor and charming personality. Those who knew him fondly remember his delightful circle dance in his wheelchair and the joyous sounds of old-school retro music filling the air, particularly the catchy tunes of Bishop Bullwinkle "Hell naw to the naw, naw, naw.
Terry's mischievous spirit shone through even in his youth, as he often found himself in playful trouble, much to the chagrin of his beloved grandmother, Ruth. With a quick wit, he would cleverly evade punishment, earning laughter from his favorite Uncle Ben, who recalled Terry's clever antics when he would prepare himself for punishment by layering up in clothes.
Terry was proceeded in death by his mother Gloria Lyons, his maternal grandparents Benjamin and Ruth Whittlesey, his paternal grandmother Eddiemary Hobbs, his daughter Natasha Gordon, step-son Terry Alls, his sister's Vicky Walker and Anita Coleman.
Terry Whittlesey Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Myra Alls-Whittlesey, his father John Clarke (Sharon), his son Terry Jr (Tinishia), his step-daughter LaTisa Alls (Rubin), his sisters Wanda Berney and Sharon Stallings, brothers James Stallings Jr., Darron Stallings (Carmen) and Eric Stallings. He also leaves his memories to his grandchildren Tiana, Taniah and Terry Whittlesey III, Jerome Perkins Jr. (Destiny), Jerome and Ronald Gray, Peyton Harper and his great-grandson Za'Kari Perkins. His uncles Benjamin Whittlesey and Clarence Williamson and his aunt Connie Madison. Terry also leaves behind his best friend since childhood Robert Hall and his favorite cousin Toni Hardy-Williamson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we celebrate his life, we remember a man who truly knew how to live, love, and spread joy in every moment.
