Benton C. Kightlinger, 82, of Meadville, passed away peacefully at home after battling health issues on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
He was born in Meadville on October 7, 1942, a son of Paul and Marion (Roae) Kightlinger.
He attended Seton School and served his country in the United States National Guard. He was raised catholic and was an altar boy at St. Agatha Catholic Church. On December 16, 1961, Benton married the former Sondra Nageotte, she survives. He was employed as an auto body repair man and was the owner/operator of Fluff & Buff Auto Detailing for 15 years. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR, golfing, crafting, and restoring Dolly his 1975 Cadillac Deville. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and playing cards, especially euchre. Benton was a member of the Meadville Legion Post #111, Vernon Volunteer, and Vernon Central.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years; three daughters, Jennifer Zelasco of Meadville, Julie Ervin and her husband Scott of Goldsboro, NC, Jacie Birtciel of Meadville; a brother, Thomas Kightlinger of Conneaut Lake; a sister, Debra Waid of Cambridge Springs; two grandchildren, BoDee Birtciel and William Ervin; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Dan Kightlinger (Mary Lou), Dorothy Cozzad, Paul Kightlinger, Mark Kightlinger, son-in-law Edward “Zeke” Zelasco, sister-in-law Carol Kightlinger, and a brother-in-law David Waid.
The family would like to thank the workers of DaVita Meadville Dialysis and Life NWPA.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
