Berlen Hoxit, 84 of Tuckasegee, went home to be with The Lord Friday, February 7, 2025, after declining in health. He was a native and lifelong resident of Charleys Creek. Berlen was born on August 3, 1940, he was a known local Christmas Tree Farmer who loved his family more than anything.
Berlen is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dollie who went on before him just four short months ago and his daughter, Judy Anne; his parents, Jesse and Florence Hoxit; paternal grandparents Davis and Levi Hoxit; maternal grandparents, Wed and Mary Galloway; sisters, Anna Faye, Edith, Elma, and Lillie; brother, Leeward Hoxit.
Berlen is survived by his three children, Hilda McCall (James) of Brevard, Donnie Hoxit (Sherry) of Sylva, Linda Luker (Steve) of Tuckasegee; six grandchildren, Tim, Jonathan, Chad, Trevor, Kathy, and Amanda; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy, Leola, Berlis, Leona, Gladys, Brenda.
The family will receive friends and family with Berlen at home for a day prior to the service.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, February 10, 2025, at Charleys Creek Church. Rev. Travis Owen will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cold Creek Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00-1:00pm prior to the service.
Pallbearers: Chad Luker, Trevor Luker, Tim McCall, Leonard Hoxit, Dennis Luker, Keith Owen.
