Bernabe Loera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Jan. 1, 2026.
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of our beloved brother and uncle, Bernabe G Loera (Poyo). Born on June 27, 1960, Poyo peacefully joined the Lord on December 14, 2025, at the age of 65. His life was a testament to love, kindness, and devotion to the many jobs that he held as well as to his family and friends. He was welcomed into eternal rest by his loving parents, Macaria and Bernabe Loera; his sisters Teresa Loera, Evangelina Munoz; his niece, Guadalupe L. Munoz. He leaves behind a legacy of love, carried on by his beautiful daughter, Brittany Loera Villanueva (James) and his two adorable grandchildren Camilla and Ira, by his life longtime partner, Margie Delgado who stood by him through good times and his battle with cancer. His sisters, Josefa L Gonzalez (Ruperto), Rosa Castillo, Adela Fuller, Grace Elizalde, Sandy Martinez (Richard), Frances Loera (Alex), and Susan Davila; her brothers, Fred Loera (Irene), Carlos Loera, and Martin Loera; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and an enormous community of friends. Poyo's warmth and spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday January 4, 2026, at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen, San Antonio, Texas.

A procession will leave from Castillo Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m., on Monday, January 5, 2026. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday January 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1321 El Paso Street, San Antonio, Texas.
