Bernadette M. Dehn, age 96 of Dayton passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. She was born on February 13, 1930 to Alphonse and Emily Zachman in St. Michael, MN where she grew up on the family farm. Bernadette was the middle daughter of 10 siblings.
Bernie worked hard doing household chores at home and worked in Minneapolis at Munsingwear and Honeywell. She met her future husband, Jim at the Anoka Halloween Parade. They got married in 1955 and were married for 68 years and had one daughter. They started their lives together farming in Dayton. Bernie was happy living the life she dreamed of. She grew huge gardens of vegetables and flowers and was always generous with her harvests to others. Bernie also was an excellent cook, baker and canner, nothing went to waste! When she did find the time to relax she enjoyed reading and watching educational tv shows, always eager to learn more. After retirement, Bernie enjoyed traveling with Jim around the U.S.A. Although Bernie was very quiet, she enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. When the great granddaughters came over she enjoyed playing games with them. Her mood was always upbeat and smiling, never a complainer. She enjoyed life! Her faith was first most in her life and she lived to serve God and others. May she stroll in the garden of heaven in peace!
Preceded in death by her husband, James; grandson, Nathan Rogahn; parents, Alphonse and Emily Zachman; brothers, Fr. Emmett Zachman O.S.C.; Bro Vernon Zachman (White Fathers), Donald Zachman, Elroy Zachman, Elmer Zachman, Joe Zachman.
