Bernie Begin, 81, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on September 23rd, 2025. He was born in Midland, Michigan to Louie and Lucille Begin. He is preceded by his parents Louie & Lucille Begin and brother David (Survived by Linda). He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Beverly, sons Jeffery and Michael(Maria), grandsons Michael Jr, Matthew and Maxwell, granddaughter Christina (Martin) and great-granddaughter Jules, brothers and sisters Jim (Patty), Mary Jane (Pat), Diane, Thomas (Kathy), Annie (Peter) and Joe (Barb).
Bernie held many jobs, from working on the family farm as a boy, selling insurance, drummer in a band with his father and brother, but retired from Bechtel Construction after 30+ years.
In his "Retirement" he volunteered with St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities mowing lawns and repairing cribs for their support programs. He was also a LONG time supporter in many capacities for Special Olympics. In 2015, he received the prestigious Bell Award for his work supporting St. Elizabeth's and Special Olympics.
Memorial contributions can be made to Clark Floyd Counties Special Olympics or St Elizabeth Catholic Charities in New Albany, Indiana.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the funeral home with visitation starting at 12:00pm until the time of the service.
