Rita Mary Begin, beloved wife of Arthur Norman Begin, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 15, 1941, Rita lived a life defined by faith, devotion, and an unwavering love for those closest to her.
A woman of grace and quiet strength, Rita was deeply devoted to her husband, Arthur, and to their children, Laura J. Begin of Newry, Maine, and Arthur J. Begin of Newbury, Massachusetts. She was the cherished daughter of Fredrick J. and Rita T. Harkins of West Peabody, Massachusetts, and sister to Fredrick Harkins of Georgetown, Massachusetts and preceded by her brother Joseph Harkins of Haverhill, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind her beloved grandson, Zachary J. Begin, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Rita's deep faith was the cornerstone of her life. She shared that faith not only in words, but through her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit that left an impression on everyone she met.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and loyal friend-someone whose warmth, wisdom, and steadfast heart brought light and comfort to all who knew her. Rita's legacy of love and faith will continue to live on in her family and in the many lives she touched throughout her years.
Services:
Visiting hours will be held at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street, Arlington, Massachusetts, on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 1:30–2:00 PM for immediate family and 2:00–5:00 PM for friends and extended family.
A Funeral Prayer Service will take place on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
