Bernard DiLullo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home - Cranston on Dec. 31, 2025.
Bernard "Sonny" DiLullo, Sr., 93 of Providence passed away after a brief illness on Sunday December 28, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jennie (Jay) DiLullo who passed away on November 1, 2025. They celebrated 69 years of marriage on October 12, 2025.

Sonny was born on October 5,1932 in Providence. He was the son of the late James DiLullo and Mary (Melda) DiLullo and the brother of the late Lillian D. Barish.

Sonny and Jay were an inseparable team. They deeply cared for each other and supported each other in all their life's adventures. Sonny was the founder and President of the General Tool and Supply Company in Attleboro Massachusetts. He built a very successful business with his wife and later his son Louis, catering to the manufacturing and jewelry industry throughout New England. Sonny was a well-known and respected businessman with the Attleboro community and with his valued customers.

Generosity was a virtue that Sonny possessed. While he was unassuming, never one to brag or flaunt his success, he was always quietly generous with his family, friends and multiple charities. Sonny was always willing to lend a hand with anything that needed to be done whether it was clearing land for a new house, moving furniture, fixing a broken pipe or caring for an ill relative. He was a man of many talents. He never expected praise or recognition for helping others but felt a sense of satisfaction that he was able to do anything he could.

Sonny was a true family man. He enjoyed having his family around and loved to engage in sometimes contentious conversations typically focused on politics, social norms and human expectations. He was an avid consumer of current events and world history. He deeply cared for his children, grandchildren, and recently great grandchildren but his true devotion was to Jay and when she left us, it was no surprise that he would follow to take care of her.

Support to his faith community was important to Sonny. While he wasn't overly religious in practice, he was a true supporter of his church and its community. He was a communicant of the St. George Maronite Catholic Church from childhood and always did what he could for his church. He formed close relationships with several of the clergy who officiated at the church and in fact spent time with Father Paul Mouawad on a trip he and Jay took to Lebanon. He always talked about the great cultural experience he had on that trip. Sonny and his wife were honored for their dedication and service by receiving the Massabki Brothers Award. He was also a lifetime member of the Order of Saint Charbel through the Eparchy of St. Maron in Brooklyn, New York.

Sonny leaves his children, Bernard DiLullo, Jr. and his wife Donna, Louis DiLullo and Janis Stufano and her husband Nicholas, His sister Mary Isaac and brother-in-law, Raymond Barish, his three beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Saldana and her husband Daniel, Alexa Stufano and Christian Stufano and his wife Gabrielle. He also leaves his great grandchildren, Coraline Saldana and Nicholas Stufano as well as many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Jane Brown Unit of Rhode Island Hospital, the fine and dedicated staff at Briarcliff Rehabilitation Center and The Johnston Fire and Rescue for their care of our father.

The family will receive relatives and friends at "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston on Sunday January 4, 2026, from 2 to 5 PM. Sonny's funeral will begin at 9:45 AM on Monday January 5 at "WOODLAWN" followed by the Divine Liturgy at 11AM in Saint George Maronite Catholic Church in Cranston. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Saints Peter and Paul at Saint Ann Cemetery in Cranston. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saint George Church in his memory.
