Ben grew up in Chicago and attended Senn High School, class of 1976. He worked throughout his career as a delivery driver, retiring in 2024.
Ben leaves behind his loving children Caleb Doerr and Courtenay (Kevin) Cruz; siblings Deborah Doerr, Barbara (John) Scott, Susan Calandra, and Laura Pieri, his beloved niece and nephew, as well as multiple great-nieces and cousins. Ben's warm spirit and kind heart will live on in the lives of all who knew him
In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warrior Fund in Ben's memory would be appreciated.
The family will be holding a funeral service on Monday August 18, 2025, at 9:30 am at Immaculate Conception church in Elmhurst, IL, followed by a Celebration of Life service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst, IL.
