Bernard John Eisenga age 91 of McBain, passed away on May 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family, we will miss his smile and laughter. He was born to David and Jennie (Brinks) Eisenga on February 25, 1933 in Highland Township, MI.
He married Margaret Ann Bolt on October 6, 1953 and together they had five children, Rose (Larry) Meekhof, Mark (Deb) Eisenga, Janell (Ted) Bazuin, Dan (Diane) Eisenga and Brian (Rachel) Eisenga. Margaret preceded him in death on March 29, 1999.
Bernard was blessed to meet Judy Schepers and married her on July 1, 2000 in McBain, together they had almost 24 years of marriage. Bernard served in the United States Army during the Korean War, he was a farmer at heart and farmed most of his life. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his children, surviving also are his wife Judy Eisenga, nineteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren, siblings; Hilda (Jim) Cruz, Karen Eisenga, Jim (Arlene) Eisenga and David (Connie) Eisenga, in-laws; Betty (Bob) Huizenga, Shirley Huttenga, Paula Schepers, Jerry (Joyce) Schepers and his best buddy, his dog Billy, as well as many other surviving relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Darin Bazuin, brothers John and Henry Eisenga, sister Jo Dykgraaf, as well as many in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 16 at the Highland Christian Reformed Church in Marion with Rev. Mark Bonnes officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service on Thursday at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the church and burial will take place in the Highland Hillside Cemetery with military burial honors being performed by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to Hospice of Michigan.
