Ben Indelicato passed away at the remarkable age of 100 on Sunday, April 13, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Gus and Gusi Indelicato and resided there for 96 years before moving to New Jersey. He was an American history buff, loved Coney Island and baseball. Even well into his 90's he remained as sharp as ever, especially when it came to his beloved New York Yankees.
Ben proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he received several decorations and citations including the American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After leaving the army, Ben owned a fish store and, even after retiring, could still be found in the kitchen of his son's seafood restaurant fileting fish, preparing shellfish and serving up advice and levity to the young staff. Family was the most important thing to Ben.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Sina; daughters MaryAnn and her husband Dennis, Carol and her husband John and his son Robert. Papa as he was affectionately known, will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Danielle, Erin, Lauren, Dorian and John and his great-grandchildren Dennis, Connor, Ben, Ella and Dylan.
Ben's legacy is one of love and devotion to family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ben's memory to the SSG Michal Ollis Freedom Foundation (www.ssgollis.org) or you can simply honor him by watching a Yankees game and keeping the score!
Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, April 21st from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at The Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ. A funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Thomas The Apostle Church on Tuesday at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold, NJ. To leave a condolence or find directions.
