Bernard P. Lafleur, Jr.
1937 - 2025
SOUTHWICK
Bernard P. Lafleur, Jr., 87, passed away on October 1, 2025 at JGS Lifecare, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holyoke, MA on October 10, 1937, the son of the late Bernard P. and Ruth S. (Beaudoin) Lafleur, he grew up in the Willimansett and Aldenville sections of Chicopee. He had served in the US Army National Guard.
Bernie began his career with Valley Bank and BayBank where he was an operations officer. After many years, he retired from Fleet Bank. Most recently, he was working as a driver for the Mason Insurance Agency in Southwick.
In his spare time, Bernie was an aviation buff, enjoying air shows and airplanes. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting and was a computer enthusiast as well.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Janet M. (Brissette) Lafleur and his sister Priscilla Mackes. To cherish his memory, Bernie leaves his children Paul Lafleur and his wife Elaine, Keith Lafleur and his wife Karen, Kim Lafleur and her husband Eric Lacey, and Michelle Lafleur; their mother, Mary Russell; his grandchildren Amanda Ryan (Rob), Emily Rojas (Nick), Abigail Bechthold (Ryan), Jacob Santangelo (Taylor), Ethan Lafleur (fiancée Allison) and Julia Santangelo; his great grandchildren Gavin and Isaac Walker, Ryan Santangelo, Avery, Harper, and Shay Ryan, Arlo, Byron, and Maisie Rojas, and Baby Weston Bechthold who is due in November; his brother Ralph Lafleur and his wife Juliette; his sisters Eveline "Bunny" Roy and her husband Gerald, and Marie Reine Roch and her husband David; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carole and Chet Olson as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and hospice at JGS Lifecare for the compassionate care given to Bernie.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 9 – 11 AM at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick. Burial will be in New Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bernard's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.forastiere.com
