Bernard Lowmaster Obituary

Bernard "Ben" James Lowmaster, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Spangler on Dec. 15, 1943, a son of the late Darl Allen Lowmaster and Elizabeth Laura (Bolvin) Lowmaster.
Mr. Lowmaster served in the United States Army and the National Guard.
On Sept. 4, 1965, he married his beloved wife Vicki Marie Pifer. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage and raised a wonderful family together.
He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church.
Ben really enjoyed working and was a heavy equipment operator in the coal industry. He worked for Original Fuel for most of his life; he had previously also worked at PennDOT.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In his free time, he liked to golf, watch westerns, play cards and watch the Pittsburgh teams' sports. He previously enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Vicki, he is survived by three children, Janet L. (Bill) Burkett of Punxsutawney, Michael (Deana) Lowmaster of Big Run and Brian Lowmaster of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Holly Burkett, David (Markie) Burkett, Kyle Burkett, Kristin Lowmaster and Kaitlyn Lowmaster; four great-grandchildren, Milo, Felix, Archer and Scarlett Burkett; two brothers, John (Mary) Lowmaster of Indiana, and Bill (Arlene) Lowmaster of Punxsutawney; four sisters, Betty Lowmaster, Kay Neal, Edie Snyder and Pat Duttry; sister in-law Joan Lowmaster, all of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard Lowmaster, Donald Lowmaster and Darl "Joe" Lowmaster; two brothers-in-law, Don Neal and Bob Duttry; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Lowmaster and Nancy Lowmaster.
There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. His ashes will be interred at Lakelawn Memorial Park.
