Bernard Sachs

Bernard J. Sachs, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at the age of 92. He is survived by his adored wife of 62 years, Joan King Sachs; his loving children, Lawrence (Jill) Sachs, Harrison (Sarah) Sachs and Jennifer Sachs (Bill Maggs); his beloved siblings, Daniel Sachs and Alvin (Marcia) Sachs; his beloved grandchildren, Amy Sachs (Spenser Frieri), Michelle Sachs (Edward Klitenick), Liam Maggs, Jeremy Sachs, Mica Maggs and Kaia Sachs; and his cherished great grandson Simon Frieri. He was predeceased by his dear parents, Samuel and Bertha Sachs (nee Kintberger).

Bernie was an accomplished lawyer and author, a proud veteran, active in local politics in the 50s and 60s, an avid private pilot, gardener and bridge player. His love of the Baltimore streetcar system and his experiences as a child in the 1930's and 1940's led him to perform copious research and author two books, one in his late 80's on the history of Baltimore's streetcars. He also regularly contributed to the Baltimore Streetcar Museum's "Live Wire" newsletter and celebrated his 90th birthday operating one of the Museum's streetcars for anyone brave enough to take the ride.

Bernie's enduring legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, whether it be through a love of travel, music and art, fine dining, a good glass of wine, or planes, trains and automobiles. He will be dearly missed.

Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Friday, June 14th, 2024, at 10:30 am. Interment Beth Jacob Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
