Bernard Thomas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce that Bernard Victor Thomas ("Bernie"), 82, entered into eternal rest in the presence of the Lord on March 1, 2026.

Bernie was born November 27, 1943, was raised in Trenton, New Jersey and attended Notre Dame High School. After high school, he enlisted in United States Marine Corp. As a marine and beyond, Bernie carried the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his entire life. Being a Marine was not just something he did - it was part of who he was. He embodied quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and a deep loyalty to his country and his fellow Marines.

In his professional life, he was a dedicated bricklayer with the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 5 and later Princeton University whose craftsmanship can be seen in the solid foundations and structures he helped build throughout the State of New Jersey. He would always point out locations he took part in building as he passed by. He approached his trade with pride, patience and precision, understanding that strong foundations - in buildings and in life - matter most.

Though he was known for his physical strength and resilience, those closest to him knew his greatest strength was his gentle heart and great faith in the Lord. He was loving, steady and deeply compassionate. He offered comfort without judgement, guidance without criticism, and love without condition.

To many, he was more than a brother, uncle, or friend - he was "like a father". He showed up when it mattered. He protected, supported, encouraged, and believed in others. Everyone who knew him loved him, and he had a rare gift for making people feel safe, valued and understood.

His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the strength he modeled, the laughter he shared, and the love that he gave so freely. The world feels quieter without him, but his impact will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known him.

Bernie's faith was a constant presence throughout his life, but the many miracles he experienced in his later years drew him even closer to God. These profound moments inspired him to lean more deeply into his faith, and the way he lived each day was a reflection of his trust in God and the strength of his beliefs.

Bernie is predeceased by his beloved daughter Theresa Lynn Thomas, his mother and father Helen (Zukowski) Thomas and Gilbert Thomas, his brother and sister-in-law Gilbert and Patricia Thomas, and his sister and brother-in-law Rita and Jerry Bills.

He is survived by the love of his life Patricia Thomas, his sons Tom Thomas (Candice) and Timothy Thomas (Jennifer), his stepchildren Cara Kurtz (Mark), Ryan Migliaccio (Staci) and Lori Hankle (David), his grandchildren, Stacey Emmel (AJ), Lance Thomas, Sarah Thomas, and Ava Migliaccio, his great-grandchildren Luca and Cora Jade Emmel, brother-in-law Donald Opdycke, special cousin Joanne Donnelly, many nieces and nephews, and too many friends to list.

Family and friends will be received at Calvary Full Gospel Church, 676 Lincoln Highway, Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania for a memorial service on March 29, 2026 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
