Bernard W. Wiley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard (Barn Dawg) Wiley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who left us on October 7, 2024 at the age of 71.
He was born on February 22, 1953 in Bellaire, OH, the son of the late William and Bertha (Skiba) Wiley.
Barney is survived by his loving wife, Christine, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Lori Lowe (Matt) and Ryan Wiley (Staci) guiding them with wisdom and kindness. As a grandfather, he found immense joy in his grandchildren, Reese, Thomas, Charlie and Olivia, always eager to share stories, play games, and impart his life lessons. He is also survived by his siblings Judy Duffy, Billie Jo Holzopfel and Chuck Wiley; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Throughout his life, Barney was known for his ability to fix anything, his compassion, generosity and his ability to make you laugh until you cried. He worked for the city, where he became someone that everyone in town knew they could call on for help. Barney had a passion for fishing, gardening, his 54 Chevy and camping.
Barney was a pillar of strength for his family and friends, always ready with a listening ear or a helping hand. His laughter and spirit brightened the lives of those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Barney's life will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 9am-1pm at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, OH. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories and honor a remarkable man at Shadyside Mead Township Little League Fields at 4p.
