Bernell Ruth Koslan

Bernell Ruth (Reuther) Koslan, age 92, of Brenham completed her earthly mission on December 4th, 2025, and now walks with the host of heavenly saints in the eternal light of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bernell was born in Lincoln, Texas – the second of six children of Ewalt O. and Edna (Beisert) Reuther. She was baptized at St. Peters Church, Lincoln, Texas on November 12, 1933, and confirmed at Christ Lutheran (Loebau) on March 3, 1947, Rev. H. Hartfield.

Her confirmation verse: 1 John 2,15 – " Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

Marriage united Bernell with her beloved husband – Edmund (Ed) Koslan – December 1, 1951, at Christ Lutheran Church (Loebau) with Rev. H.O. Hartfield., officiating.

The union of Ed and Bernell was filled with love and devotion for over 56 years, and blessed with two children – Wayne and Deborah.

In early married life , they lived in Waco, Dallas, Dayton, Ohio and Loebau. They then moved to Houston where Bernell worked for years at the Spring Branch School District as Food Service Manager. While residing in Houston, Ed and Bernell were active members of Concordia Lutheran Church.

After Ed's retirement, they moved back to Loebau, built their retirement home, and Bernell went to work for Giddings ISD as Food Service Manager. They continued their faith life as active members of Christ Lutheran, Loebau.

Bernell is survived by her son Wayne Koslan (Dianna) of Houston, daughter Deborah Oldag of Sealy, grandchildren: Al Oldag, Chelsea Koslan, Katie Jo Koslan, 4 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition, Bernell is survived by two sisters Marilyn (Lynn) Kanewske of Loebau, Carol (Gerald) Richards of Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernell is preceded in death by her parents, Ewalt and Edna Reuther, her husband Edmund Koslan, two brothers, Edmund (Madeline) Reuther, Gilbert (Pearlie) Reuther, sister Betty (Sam) Andrews (Mick) McDonald, granddaughter, Jennifer Oldag, son-in-law Tommie Oldag, daughter-in-law Robbie Koslan, parents-in-law Charles and Helen Koslan, brothers-in-law Charley (Ruby) , Gerald (Irene), Albert (Ruth), Willie (Dollie), Richard (Gladys), and sister-in-law Lorene (Carl) Boes.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Thursday December 11th, at Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Loebau , Rev. Pastor David Mumm, officiating.
