Bernice Jane Barnett, 86, Paoli, IN passed away October 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Jane was born to Russell and Gusta Goodall Carwile on September 21, 1939. She married Clyde Lane Barnett on November 16, 1957, and he preceded her in death November 10, 2024. The couple had two daughters Pam Barnett Bond and Tammy Barnett.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents: Russell Carwile and Gusta Goodall Carwile, brothers: William Cody Carwile, James Russell Carwile, and John Russell Carwile, and daughter Tammy Barnett.

Jane worked at the Paoli Community Schools for many years serving as secretary and treasurer.

Jane was given to hospitality. She collected cookbooks, enjoyed cooking for family functions and her church friends. She was a loving caregiver to many of her family and friends.

Jane enjoyed camping and traveling west with her husband and daughters. She also enjoyed her girls’ trips to Pigeon Forge with her sisters and nieces- “Gusta Girls Getaways”

Jane was a member of the Prospect Church of Christ and was dedicated to Bible Study.

Survivors Include: Daughter Pam Bond, and grandson Alex Bond of Paoli, IN., granddaughter Erin Bond of Chicago, IL., and great grandson Simon Crain of Lafayette, IN., Sisters: Grady J. Owen of Paoli, IN., Velma J. Travis of Trenton, TN., and Wanda J. Kennedy of Trenton, TN., Sister-In-Law: Cecilia Carwile of Paoli, IN., along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home, 226 W. Campbell St. Paoli, IN.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home.

Interment to follow at The Paoli Community Cemetery.
