Bernice Elaine Hardway, 98, of Fairmont passed away peacefully on Thursday October 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Cecil and Edna (Martin) Carroll.
Her life was a shining example of love, strength, and intelligence, as she consistently sought out new ways to stay active and engaged. Whether tackling household projects or tending to her yard, her determination and enthusiasm were inspiring. According to her, it was this steadfast commitment to staying busy that contributed significantly to her remarkable longevity.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sandra (Raymond) Bane, Kimberly Webber, Douglas Hardway, Mindy Hardway, Bradley (Sonya) Hardway, grandchildren: Brian (Kristyn) Bane, Brandi (Cy) Bane, Brandon (Amy) Bane, Tonya Webber, Travis Webber, Elaina Webber, Kevin Hardway, Justen Hardway, Gregory Hardway, Desiree Frye, Damaris Frye, great grandchildren: Brayden, Bethany, Kyle, Parker, Cooper, Mila, Ava, Hazel, Revan, Eleanor, Connor, Molly, Logan (Megan) and Seth.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Ivan D Hardway, brother Paul Carroll, son in law Butch Webber, grandsons Jamie Hardway and Brendan Bane, granddaughter Tandala Trentini and great granddaughter Britnee Trentini.
Family and friends can gather at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm. Pastor Craig Matheny will be officiating, and a burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
