Our beloved mother, Bernice Irene (Koziatek) Hogger, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at the age of 82. She was a force of nature, a source of endless laughter, the heart of our family, and the fiercest mama bear.
Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Bernice Hogger found joy in the simple things: tending to her plants, birdwatching, watching her television programs, and long conversations with friends and family. She was a resident of Florida for 45 years, and enjoyed traveling around the state with her family, but also loved being home as her neighbors became her extended family. She retired in 2011 from Travelers Insurance after a long career in the industry. She was a dedicated dog mom and there will be many poodles waiting for her at the rainbow bridge.
She will be profoundly missed by her children, Brian Hogger and his wife Staci Hogger, Michelle Massari and her husband David Sprouse, Son-in-law Shane Massari and his wife Diana; her grandson, Bradley Massari; her brother, Raymond Koziatek, and her sister-in-law Margaret Roycraft; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denis Hogger, her sister-in-law Judy Koziatek, her niece, Brenda Koziatek, and her parents, Marion and Alexander Koziatek.
We will celebrate her life at Newcomer (East Orlando Chapel) 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL, on January 19th at 11am. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10am. She will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local animal shelter.
