Corsica - Bernice Hup, 85, died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Funeral service will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Corsica with burial following in Graceland Cemetery in Corsica. Visitation will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Netherland Reformed Gym in Corsica with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
Bernice Hup was born on June 24, 1937 to Henry and Anna (Groeneweg) Van Ginkel in Rock Valley, IA. She attended school in Rock Valley where she worked various jobs. On March 29, 1957, she married Gerrit Hup in Rock Valley, IA. The couple moved to a farm near Armour, then to a farm near Corsica before moving into Corsica in 1968. Gerrit died on December 21, 2005. Bernice was a member of Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Corsica. She enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the age of 85.
She is survived by her 4 children, Alfred Hup of Corsica, SD, Harvey Hup of Corsica, SD, Jane (Larry) Langstraat of Stickney, SD and Edward (Sharon) Hup of Corsica, SD, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild, brother, Harold (Glenda) Van Ginkel of Rock Valley, IA and brother-in-law, Frank Wynia of Rock Rapids, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerrit, son, Dennis, parents, Henry and Anna Van Ginkel, grandson, Jonathon Hup, 2 granddaughters, Laura and Renae, in-laws, Fred and Dena Hup, and step-father-in-law, John Rus.
