Bernice Magoulas

Bernice Magoulas MT. PLEASANT - Bernice Magoulas passed away on October 7, 2025, at age 95 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Born in Lake City, Florida, on July 16, 1930, the daughter of Marion and Delorise Benson, Bernice graduated from high school in Waycross, Georgia. She then attended Nursing School at the Medical University in Charleston, South Carolina. Following graduation in 1951, she married Jimmy Magoulas. Careers led them to live in several states before returning to Charleston in 1963 where they have lived since. Bernice was a Pediatric RN at Roper Hospital until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church for 62 years and loved her church family. For many years, Bernice also enjoyed her involvement with Carolina Children's Charity, The Citadel Women's Club, Sandhurst Garden Club, The Preservation Society of Charleston, The Historic Charleston Foundation, and the MUSC Nursing Alumni Foundation. A steady source of inspiration and support for her beloved family and friends by way of prayers, cards, phone calls, and visits, Bernice will be remembered for her love for God and love for others. Bernice is survived by her husband of 74 years, Dr. Jimmy Magoulas; her 3 daughters, Pam Griffin (Roscoe), Teresa Allen (Doug), and Kathryn Farmer (Dan); 9 grandchildren, Kristen Conlee (Mike), Kelsey Allen, Haley Allen, Dawson Allen, Graham Allen, Hudson Allen, Caroline Magoulas, Anna Hook (Christian), and Ben Farmer; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexa Conlee, Annalyn Conlee, Charlotte Conlee, and Halley Hook; her sister, Marion Moore (Walter); as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, October 10, at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy., with Pastor Randy Disharoon officiating. The family will receive guests 1 hour prior to the service in the church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
