Bernice Sirls Miller, age 98, was born on December 9, 1926, in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, to AR and Imogene Sirls. She peacefully transitioned on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Bernice received her early education in the public schools of Mt. Enterprise. After graduating, she moved to Austin, Texas, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
She accepted Christ at an early age and remained a devoted servant of the Lord throughout her life. Bernice was a longtime, faithful member of David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in various ministries for over 60 years until her health declined. She had a special passion for ushering and took great pride in welcoming others into the house of the Lord with grace and warmth.
Bernice met and married Willie Miller Jr. of Hillsboro, Texas. From their loving union, they were blessed with three daughters.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Daughters Mary (Joseph) Linnen and Damita (Harry) Shanklin; Grandsons Damon (Nikkia) Miller and Bernard (Yara) Linnen; Great-grandsons DeAndre (Yasmeen) Miller and Dorian Miller; Great-granddaughters Tia Miller, Coco Linnen, Kenya Fermin, and Kourtney Fermin; Great-great-grandchildren Kross Miller, Indigo Miller, and Karter Valentine.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Willie Miller Jr., daughter Erma McBride, parents AR and Imogene Sirls, brother AR Sirls Jr., and sisters Vernell Lewis and Vernette Augman.
Bernice’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. Her warm spirit, loving heart, and faithful service will be remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Celebration of Life will begin 11:00AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2211 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin, TX 78702. Interment will follow immediately at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
