Bernice Mueller Obituary

Bernice E. Mueller, nee Breuer, 83 of Jackson, WI, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

She was born on December 13, 1942 in Hartford, WI to the late Sylvester and Marie (nee Loosen) Breuer. On October 6, 1962 Bernice was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Mueller, Jr. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Ted passed away on December 21, 2020.

Bernice worked at the local Red Owl for several years in the 1970’s before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She started working at Hanson’s Piggly Wiggly in Slinger in the early 1980’s and over the next 30 years, she built a reputation for making the finest baked goods and deli recipes. After “retiring” from Piggly Wiggly, she worked at Reis’ Sausage Plus in West Bend and Bieri’s Cheese in Jackson for a time before she finally hung up her apron in 2020. She loved what she did and would always donate her delicious bakery to bake sales whenever she could, and of course, they always sold out!

She was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend and the American Legion Post 36 Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds and she also enjoyed reading, biking and going for walks. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Daniel (Donna) Mueller, Gary (Rosa) Mueller, Robert “Bob” (Kari) Mueller, and Ricky (Kim) Mueller; ten grandchildren, Kyle, Erica, Dana, Camilla, Morgan, Mackenzie, Marissa, Ryan, Cory, and Kaylee; two great grandchildren, Theo and Jackson, and sisters Ester, Dorothy and Shirley, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to acknowledge her companion Bill Hamm, with whom she shared a very active and loving friendship over the past few years. You are the best Bill! Thank you for being there for our mom.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jim Mueller and her older brother, Ralph Breuer.

VISITATION: Bernice’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service (1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend), from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Following visitation there will be a memorial service for Bernice at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, with Father Rick Stoffel officiating the service.

The family would like to thank our aunts and uncle; Bonnie, Lavern, Chris and Dave for spending their afternoons watching over Mom, and a very special thank you to neighbors, Jeanne and Judy, for walking Joey and for just being there. Your presence was a godsend to us and we cannot express our appreciation enough. Also, the nurses and staff at Kathy Hospice in West Bend for the compassionate, loving care they provided mom in her last days. You have such a difficult job. Thank you!

Memorials in Bernice’s name to the Epilepsy Foundation Heart of Wisconsin are appreciated by the family.
