Bernice E. Schutter

Bernice Elizabeth (Byers) Schutter, age 92, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 24, 2022. She was born October 21, 1930 in Grant, MI to Larry and Mildred (Harper) Byers and had been a long-time resident of Ravenna. Bernice had worked for Meijer Inc. as well as Grace Adventures, cooking alongside her daughter, Pam, for many years. She was affectionately known to campers as the "salad lady." She was also a member of Coopersville Bible Church. SURVIVORS include seven children: Carl (June) Schutter of Ravenna, Debra Ackerberg of Fremont, Roger Schutter of Kentwood, Vicki (Vincent) Arends of N. Muskegon, Tim (Cindy) Schutter of Ravenna, Lori (Dennis) Bayle of Fruitport, and Pamela Schutter of Ravenna; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; and her brother, Orville "Butch" Washburn of Norton Shores; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cathi Schutter; 11 brothers; and great-grandchildren: Emmanuel and Colette. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Coopersville Bible Church (35 Hillcrest St., Coopersville, MI 49404). Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Grace Adventures (2100 N. Ridge Rd., Mears, MI 49436) will be appreciated.
