Berniece K. Ascani

Berniece K. Ascani, 86, of Allentown, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 12, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in 1937, she was the daughter of the late Grace (Strauss) and Richard Kirchhofer. She was the wife of the late Richard O. Ascani, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage before his passing in 2004. Berniece was a graduate of East Stroudsburg State College, where she earned her teaching degree. She would then go on to teach for over 25 years within the Bangor and Belvidere school districts. Berniece was a long time, former member of Saint Vincent, de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Portland, PA and a current member of Saint Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Allentown, PA. In her spare time, she loved volunteering for historic Bethlehem. She was also an avid reader and loved traveling with her late husband.
Berniece was loved by her daughters and their husbands, Terri and Robert Syvret, Vicki and Douglas Hensinger, her late son and his wife, Richard and Kathleen Ascani, grandchildren, Brendan Hensinger, Shannan Ianovale, Kaylyn Edelman, Robert T. Syvret, Daniel Syvret, Sophia Ascani, and Lorenzo Ascani, great-grandchildren Luca and Gianna Ianovale. She was predeceased by her sister Grace Yetter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 10:30 AM, at St. Thomas More R.C.C., 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA 18103. A Calling hour will be held prior to mass from 9:30-10:30. Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
