Born in
Edward, North Carolina, on March 23, 1936, Berniece lived a life guided by Scripture, softened by grace, and strengthened by prayer. Her earthly journey took her through New York, New Jersey, and back to her home state of North Carolina, and she walked with the Lord every step of the way.
A devoted woman of faith, Berniece spent her days seeking God-reading her Bible morning and night, bowing her knees in prayer, and trusting Him with a humility that reflected the heart of Christ. Her bright smile, her laugh, and her kind spirit were evidence of a soul anchored in God's love. She carried peace in her presence, compassion in her hands, and encouragement on her lips.
She cherished her family as a God-given blessing. Gathering with loved ones, uplifting friends, and offering quiet prayers for all who crossed her path were among her greatest joys. Her humility was a living testimony, and her humbleness spoke louder than any sermon. She loved deeply, served quietly, and gave generously.
Berniece's work life was rich and varied, but she held a special fondness for her time as a Sales Manager with Dudley Products, where she built relationships, inspired others, and carried her faith into her daily walk.
She is lovingly held in memory by her husband, Joseph Dickerson; her daughter, Valerie Cook; her stepdaughter, Lorella Dickerson, and her numerous step-grandchildren; her sisters, Margaret Wright and Evelyn Ramsey (Richard), and a host of nieces and nephews. They stand today not only as her family, but as the living fruit of her prayers - prayers she faithfully offered throughout her life.
Though she is no longer with us in body, we trust in the promise that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." May her memory be a blessing, and may her life continue to speak through the love, faith, and gentleness she poured into all of us.
Heavenly Father, We thank You for the precious life of Your daughter, Berniece. We thank You for every smile she shared, every prayer she prayed, every act of kindness she offered, and every moment of love she gave so freely. Her life was a reflection of Your grace, and her spirit shone with the light of Your peace.
Lord, as we release her into Your everlasting arms, we find comfort in knowing she is resting safely in Your presence. Surround her family with Your tender mercy. Wrap them in Your strength, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts in the days ahead.
May the memories of her gentle nature, her faith, and her love be a blessing that endures. May her legacy guide us, inspire us, and remind us to walk humbly with You, just as she did.
Amen
