Bert Steven Branstetter was born on July 10, 1951 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Bert C and Margaret V Branstetter. His father was US Army and so they travelled all over the world. He graduated high school in Germany. After graduation he left Germany on his own back to Lawton Oklahoma to attend Cameron College. He lived with Grandma Branstetter and Uncle Gano and Aunt Oleta Morgan who took him to Jefferson Baptist Church. He met Brother Joe Gomez the pastor who gave him a job on Ft Sill in the dry cleaning business. Not only that but he introduced him to Oklahoma Sooner Football. He was an avid Sooner fan - season ticket holder still today.
It was there at church he met the love of his life Debi Gomez. Yes, Brother Joe’s daughter. They were married on June 25, 1971. Steve was ordained as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church. They raised three children and Steve worked for National Life Insurance and AIG, as travels took him to Kansas and then back to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He continued working selling insurance till retirement. He then went to work for his son.
He retired again. Steve and Debi then went full time RVing. They joined the Happy Oklahoma Wanderers where they met lots of friends and traveled and played lots of games. They spent spring/summers in Branson, Missouri and winters in Mission Texas. Steve had many names -- he went by Bert, Steve, Steven, Dad, Paw Paw, Burtis, Honey and Mikey because he loved to eat everything.
Steve went to be with his Lord and Savior December 28, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Deborah Branstetter. Two sons and two daughters in law, Jeff and Niki Branstetter of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Jeremy and Jaclyn Branstetter of Ft Worth, Texas.
