Bert Hellgren

Bert Hellgren, age 86 of Fairfield, loving husband of nearly 50 years to Sarah Edwards Hellgren, passed away quietly at home on October 1st, 2025 after a long illness.
Devoted family man, Marine Corps veteran, electronic technician, handyman extraordinaire, pianist, athlete & nature lover, he will be missed by his wife and four children, from a former marriage, Vivienne Ziobro (Jay). John Hellgren (Corine), Judy Bottone (Frank), and Kristen Hellgren, and a special niece, Linnea Barthe-Stoyak (Kevin), ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a grandniece and her husband and two great grandnephews.
Bert was predeceased by his parents, Sture and Linnea (Carlson) Hellgren, his sister and brother-in-law, Norma and George Barthe, his first wife, Joan Benway Hellgren, and his mother & father-in-law, Jean Menetrey Edwards and William Alexander Edwards.
There will be a celebration of his life at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 at the Larson Funeral Home, located at 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Friends and family are encouraged to arrive one hour early to greet the family. Following the prayer service, Bert will be interred at Lawncroft Cemetery, situated at the intersection of Black Rock Turnpike and Burroughs Road.
