Funeral service for William Bert Kirkpatrick age 92, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Greg Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Cheyenne Smithers, Jim Clater, Dale Brown, William Cody Smithers, Stephen Richter and Dusty Clater serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be William David McPherson, Josh McPherson, Marlin Jones, Noah Hawks, Benny Ray Kirkpatrick, David Jones and all his nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Kirkpatrick passed away at Hospice of East Texas on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
Bert Kirkpatrick was born on April 13, 1932, in Sulphur Springs to John Presley and Henrietta (Hill) Kirkpatrick. He married Dama Ruth Wilhite in Sulphur Springs on September 27, 1974. Bert served in the United States Army and he attended Southside Church of Christ.
Bert is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Dama Kirkpatrick; daughters, Debbie Clater (Jim), Donna Brown (Dale), Lisa Smithers (Cheyenne), and Phyllis McPherson; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Oliver (Mike) from Sulphur Springs and Sindy Anderson (Lynn) of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Henrietta Kirkpatrick; brothers, Ray Kirkpatrick and James Kirkpatrick; infant brother, JP Kirkpatrick; sisters, Sybil Jones, Roena Butcher, and Vannoy Gentles; and stepson, David Free.
