Celebrating the life of Bert Masters, a man of integrity and grit, a man who believed in God, his family, and his work, we honor a life well lived.
Bert Masters, born in Richmond, Missouri December 29, 1936 to Mabel and William Masters of Rayville Missouri, passed away peacefully July 13, 2024. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Borton) Masters of Platte City, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Gayla (Masters) and Kevin Compton of Saratoga, California; and son Stan Masters and daughter-in-law, Renee (Atkinson) of Platte City, Missouri.
Bert and Marilyn have four grandchildren, Elena (Compton) Veckman (married to Matt Veckman) of Charlottesville, Virginia, Cameron Compton (married to Suzie Compton) of Chicago, Illinois, Evan Masters (married to Kate Masters) of Springfield, Missouri, and Lauryn Masters of Kansas City, Missouri; three great grandchildren, William Veckman, Hayes Veckman, and Luke Veckman, of Charlottesville, Virginia; and two sisters, Barbara Westerhouse of Lawrence, Kansas and Faye Ashcraft of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.”
Loved by so many family and friends, Bert was a man of determination and drive, a man of high morals and clear thinking, a man who would never ask of others what he did not expect of himself. He was self-controlled and meticulous. Always engaged with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, we all learned the things valuable in this life, joy and fun and hard work.
He began his work life early, first on the family farm, then in retail, with an astronomical rise with the General Electric Company beginning in 1966, eventually becoming the National Sales Trainer/Major Appliance Division. He traveled nationally and internationally training others in his signature direct style.
Always front and center in his community, he was a leader in his local church, in Rotary and other issues of importance. He was always a voice of reason.
Bert long supported the Men’s Ministries at Northland Cathedral. If you care to donate in Bert’s name, click on this link. (Please designate Bert Masters/Men’s Ministries in the available box). Additionally, he received amazing care while in Kansas City Hospice. If you care to donate in Bert’s name, click on this link. (Please designate Bert Masters/Giving when prompted.)
A private family graveside will be held at Antioch Cemetery, Holt, MO. A Celebration memorial service will be held on August 17th at 2:00 pm at Northland Cathedral Church. The family would be delighted to have you join us to share stories and memories.
Bert, Daddy, PaPa will be missed and…he will always be with us.
