Bert Supernaw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. - Peru on Apr. 10, 2025.
Bert Edwin Supernaw, of Salmon River Road, died Friday, March 14, 2025 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, at the age of 87.
Born April 24, 1937, the son of Ross and Bessie (Brelia) Supernaw. He was raised in the Schuyler Falls/Plattsburgh area and was a machine operator (mostly bulldozer) for several local contractors; including Joe Frank, Harold Way, and Barry White just to name a few.
He was a proud member of the International Operating Engineers Union - Local 158 since February 15, 1967.
He was a gentlemen farmer with a special love for horses. He could fix/build just about anything. He loved his old trucks/tractors and anything western. In his later years he enjoyed garage sales, movies (John Wayne (Westerns) were his favorite), old country music, and visiting with anyone who would share a story.
He married, his devoted wife, Beverly, on August 6, 1960. They spent 57 years together raising their family and creating a home. She predeceased him on September 21, 2017. In addition to his parents and spouse, he was predeceased by his brothers; Donald (Cora) Supernaw and Ken (Pearl) Supernaw; his sisters, Isabel (Dan McCusker), Phyllis (Tom O'toole), and Helen (David) Scales; his eldest daughter, Teresa Campilango; and infant daughter, Debbie also predeceased him.
Left behind to cherish his memories are; Sheryl Supernaw (Dan Clark) of Peru, Donna (Russell) Scarborough of Schuyler Falls, Bert (Anna) Supernaw of Owego; a sister, Joanne of Florida; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins; a wonderful neighbor who looked in on him and helped him whenever he needed them. Special thank you to Raymond Darwin - who was his closest nephew/neighbor and buddy. There is nothing he wouldn't do for dad. And last but not least are all his many, many friends throughout the entire North Country. There was seldom a family he didn't know or their relatives!
A private burial is being held in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Schuyler Falls Cemetery Association, C/O Rosella Martineau (who was also Mom's bridesmaid at their wedding).
A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and therapists that helped dad through his life's journey.
Please share a story with us on the Hamilton website, we all love the stories.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055.
