Berta Tapia

With sorrow and unwavering faith in God's promises, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Berta Tapia. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; she passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 89 on February 25, 2026 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was born to Juan and Ophelia Ramirez on July 27, 1936 in Newgulf, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her true love Robert Tapia, her parents, her siblings: Emilia Rodriguez, Hilma Figueroa, Maria Ramirez, Dora Gutierrez, Manuel Ramirez, Lupe Ramirez, Eloy Ramirez, and Jesse Ramirez.

She graduated from Boling High School in 1954. After her father's passing, the family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she met the love of her life Robert Tapia. They married in August 1956. Together they built a home of faith and love. Her strong faith and belief in the Lord was her guiding light.

She is survived by her children Mario (Ruby) Tapia, Robert (Ruth) Tapia, Richard (Irma) Tapia, and Marisa (Rod) Young. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Dr. Michael Young (fiancée Dr. Elizabeth Longo), Marcos Tapia, and Hannah Young.

She is also survived by her last living sister, Alma Garza and numerous nieces and nephews. Berta was a woman whose love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. Her faith was not simply something she professed, it was something she lived daily. Through her words, her actions, and her quiet strength, she reflected Christ's love to everyone she encountered. She was truly an extension of God's hands and feet, serving her family first and then others with humility, compassion, and grace.

Together with her beloved husband Robert; she built a home on faith and love. Their marriage was a testimony to commitment, prayer, and partnership under God's guidance.

Her home was filled with prayer, joy, warmth, great food, and unwavering love. It was a place where faith was practiced, not just spoken, where forgiveness was modeled, and where Christ-centered values were instilled in the hearts of her children.

Her devotion to her family was constant. She poured wisdom, encouragement, and discipline into her children, rooted in biblical principles. Her children and grandchildren were priceless gifts from God. They meant the world to her. The values she instilled-faith, integrity, kindness, and perseverance will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

She had a gift for blessing others. Whether it was through a comforting prayer, a listening ear, making a warm meal, or a simple word of encouragement, she made people feel seen, loved, and valued. Most importantly, she always encouraged people to seek God first in all things. To know her was to experience genuine grace.

Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice in the assurance that she now rests in the presence of our Lord and Savior, the God that she so faithfully served. Her life was a testament to unconditional love and enduring faith, and her legacy will continue to shine on through her children and grandchildren and the generations to come.
