Obituary for Bertha Basile (1931-2026)

Bertha Basile, age 94, a life-long resident of Swedesburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, March, 16, 2026 in East Norriton. Born in Swedesburg, Bertha was the daughter of the late Chester Mieczkowski and the late Bertha (née Jarosz) Mieczkowski, the devoted wife, of the late Michael A. Basile Sr., who passed in 1985, the loving mother of Karen (Bob) Feeney, Renee (Joe) Coyle, Michael (Millicent) Basile, Lisa (Phil) Shears and Eric Basile, the proud grandmother of Erin, Kate, Moira, Thomas, Matthew, Timothy, Michael, Evan Sr., Lauren, James, Joseph, Brian, Nathan and Jason and the adoring great-grandmother of Pearl, Joy, Olivia, Beverly, Evan Jr., Carlo, Vivian, Elise and Hazel. Sadly, Bertha was predeceased by her sister, the late Frances Mieczkowski, who passed as a small child. She honored the memory of Frances by taking Frances as her confirmation name.

Mrs. Basile was a graduate of St. Matthew's High School, Class of 1949 and after her children were all in school, she went from being a homemaker to working as an administrative assistant for the AAMCO Transmission Company, until her retirement in the early 1990's. She was a long time and devout member of Sacred Heart Church and spent countless hours crocheting various items for family and friends as well as for donations. She will be sorely missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Relatives and Friends are invited to Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Swedesburg, PA 19405 on Thursday, March 26, 2026, where her viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. and her Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
