Bertha Lee, entered this life on Monday, August 12, 1957, in Springfield, Robertson County, Tennessee, the daughter of Walter Louis Harris and Martha Susie Rutherford Harris. Her parents and two sisters: Sue Harris and Martha Ann Dowlen preceded her in death.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Bertha received her education in the Todd County, Kentucky School System and was a graduate of Todd County Central High School. She enjoyed employment with American Snuff as a member of the custodial staff.
Moma was a loving, compassionate and a selfless person. Everyone who crossed her path was blessed with her generosity, her warm heart and her caring spirit. She spent most of her life loving and caring for others. She loved her community just as much as she loved and cared for her children and grandchildren. She spent most of her life deeply in love with William “Bird” Dowlen. Her love for him was unconditional and intimate. She would have done anything to see him smile. Her love was undeniable. She also dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She always made sure they needed nothing; always providing for others before providing for herself. She was the true definition of what a Christan lived their life as. Never selfish, always selfless.
On Thursday, December 18, 2025, Bertha departed this life to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughters: Gracie Hatchett, Memphis, TN and Jennifer Harris, Guthrie, KY; son, Robert Harris, Elyria, OH; devoted lifelong partner, William Dowlen; stepson, William Dowlen, Jr.; nine grandchildren; sisters: Ida Mae O’Neal, Margaret Harris, both of Guthrie, KY and Shirley Brown, Bay, AR; brother, Walter Louis Harris, Jr., Clarksville, TN and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
