Bertie Lou Johnson Flaugher, 97, of Grayson, KY went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Bertie was born August 17, 1928 in Carter County, KY; a daughter of the late John Curtis and Bertha Roseberry Johnson. In addition to her parents, Bertie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas "Buster" Leroy Flaugher Sr. of 27 years who passed away in 1976; two brothers, Bobby Dan Johnson and Benny Curtis Johnson; and a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Johnson Lenert.

Bertie was known for her unwavering love and her heartfelt advice-whether you asked for it or not. One thing for certain is that she loved us all despite our flaws, but she definitely made sure we knew we had them.

She was known to be a bit of a spitfire and lived life with both spunk and sass and a heart full of love for all who knew her. A passion of hers was taking care of her own and she always had a meal ready welcoming family to gather around the table after long days farming in the fields. Working on the family farm and tending to cattle - especially her favorite, Charolais and teaching children and grandchildren how to can vegetables and make the best pickles and jams. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed reading reader's digest, newspapers, and always wanted to learn something new. She loved to tell stories from her childhood and we all learned a lesson or two from her sharing those.

Titles of mother, aunt, friend, and sister were ones that she wore with pride. She also was proud to have been the wife of Thomas "Buster" Leroy Flaugher Sr., who she stood by throughout their time together and honored him by continuing on their family traditions of love and hard work.

Although she had many titles - her favorite title was "Mamaw" and she showed up for each and every one of her grandchildren. She especially loved watching them show animals at the fair, cheering on with pride. Along with cheering on her family - she loved watching the Cincinnati Reds and the News. She loved politics and was always up for a debate.

She also was a woman of her faith in Jesus and loved attending church at a place near and dear to her - Willard Missionary Baptist where she was honored and recognized as their oldest living member this past spring. Her love for her own and her endless words of wisdom will be remembered by all who knew her.

Bertie is survived by a daughter, MaryLou Flaugher (Larry "Ringo") Fraley; five sons, Thomas L. "Tom" (Judy) Flaugher Jr., Robert "Bob" Flaugher, Dwight David "Ike" (Debbie) Flaugher, Deron "Butch" (Nicole) Flaugher and Patrick (Kim) Flaugher, Sr. all of Grayson; 18 Grandchildren, Stephanie Diane Mulkey, Samantha Dawn (Mike) Sammons, Tomi Leann Flaugher, Jennifer Flaugher, Jessica Flaugher (Billy) Hanners, Kalli Beth (Adam) Parsons, Tyler Jacob (Danielle) Flaugher, Amy Jo (Justin Bartley) Potter, Adam Jared (Vonda) Potter, Megan Flaugher Wyatt, Deron Thomas (Lori) Flaugher, Lloyd Grant (Caitlyn) Flaugher, Rebecca Addaline Flaugher, John Wayne Flaugher, Kenneth Mills, Patrick (Audrey) Flaugher, Jr., Cheron Marie Flaugher, and Gerald Robert "Bobby" Flaugher; 25 Great-Grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Laura Ann Johnson Huffman; and a host friends, church family, nieces, nephews and extended family who all mourn her passing.

Laying her to rest as Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Adam, Deron, Kenneth, Grant, Tyler, Patrick, Kane, Bobby, Garon, Griffin, Isaiah, and Tim.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jared, Ian, Hayden, Parker, John Wayne, Kash, and Clint

Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Sergent and Bro. Steve Gilreath officiating.
