Bess Ednie, born April 25, 1923 passed away peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living of Granite Run on March 1, 2018. Born in Woodlyn, PA, Bess was the daughter of Natalie (Druk) Levy and Martin Levy. She was predeceased by her sister, Stella Turin (Harry) and Brothers, William and Anthony (Dorothy) and her beloved husband of 67 years, Charles Ednie, Sr.
Bess graduated from Ridley High School in 1941 where she excelled academically, and played basketball, field hockey, and softball, lettering in each. She worked at Baldwin Hamilton in Eddystone before she married and began raising a family.
Bess was an avid bowler, participating in three leagues most of her adult life until she was 90. She frequently had the highest average on her team, winning tournaments, and awards along the way. Achieving a six hundred series was the highlight of her bowling career.
Bess loved to travel each year to a bowling tournament "with the girls" to have fun and see the country. Each year a different tournament location was selected for bowling and sightseeing enjoyment.
She loved going to the Atlantic City casinos with her husband, Charlie, and after his retirement, walking several miles a day, doing crossword puzzles and attending daily mass. Bess was a long time member of Our Lady of Charity Catholic Church in Brookhaven.
She is survived by her sons, Charles, Jr. (Mimi), Kenneth (Joan), and daughter Janice Carreras (Thomas); nineteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral mass Saturday, March 10, 2018, 10:30am at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA. Visitation Saturday 9-10:15am at the church. Burial Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate Mass Cards or contributions in her name to Our Lady of Charity Church. Online condolences can be sent via www.batemanallenfuneralhome.com
