Bessie Louise "Ise" Buchanan, age 89 of Waverly, TN passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Humphreys County Care and Rehabilitation. Ise was born on October 13, 1934, to the late Eula Bell Lofton Buchanan and Samuel Cleather Buchanan. She was a beloved homemaker and cherished member of her community. She was a lifelong resident of Humphreys County, where she made a lasting mark by her loving spirit and family-oriented nature. Ise filled her home and the lives of those around her with warmth and joy. Her motherly instinct was shown to her nieces and nephews, who fondly remember the early mornings filled with song as she sang to them, creating lasting memories. Ise's love for music and nurturing spirit reflected her deep connection to her family, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. She had a passion for cooking and was known for her top secret chicken and dressing. She also enjoyed challenging her mind with crossword puzzles.
Left to cherish Ise's memory are her siblings, Peggy Buchanan and Clyde Buchanan (Brenda); nieces, Kay Nichols, Shannon Buchanan Binkley and Carol Mullinax (Tim); great nieces, Natasha Breeden, Tinika Francis (Nicholas), LeShae Carney (Jack), Cheyenne Nichols and Kayla Garner; great nephew, Tyler Binkley; great-great nieces and nephews, Trevor James, Christian Breeden, Haisley Carney, Coleson Carney, Beau Garner, Jasper Wren, Bella Wren, Delray Garner and Blakely Mullinax, and extended family and friends.
Along with her parents, Ise is preceded in death by her siblings, Irene Buchanan, Nancy Jackson, Lonnie Scaggs, Luther Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, Egbert Buchanan and George Buchanan; niece, Lisa Damesworth; great nephew-in-laws, CJ Breeden and Johnathan Garner; great niece, Brooklyn Mullinax; and nephew-in-law, Dennis Darcey.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN, from 11:30 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM with Bro. Jeff Keele officiating the service. The interment to follow at McKeel Cemetery in Cuba Landing, TN.
Arrangements are entrusted to Luff-Bowen Funeral Home.
