BESSIE JOHNSON GRISSOM

Henderson, TN: Bessie Ray Johnson Grissom, age 94, passed away March 14, 2025, at her home.

She was born and reared in Hardin County, in the Hinkle community, the daughter of the late John F. and Lucy Meadows Johnson.

She married Fayettie Grissom (F.C.) in 1948 and they made their home in Chester County most of their married life. Mr. Grissom drove a concrete truck for Stephenson Ready Mix and Mrs. Grissom was a homemaker.

Bessie loved gardening, reading and her cats. She was an avid domino player. She loved her family and friends.

She was a foster grandparent with the special education class at Chester County Elementary for eight years, alongside Mrs. Maurine Talley.

She is survived by a son, Roy Neal Grissom of Beech Bluff and a daughter, Evelyn Keele (Jamie) of Jackson, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Earl Hardin Johnson, Burl Mackey Johnson and Barnie Edman Johnson; and a sister, Millie May Johnson.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday March 18, 2025, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Henderson County, the Hinkle Community, with Jimmy Meek officiating.
