Bessie June Huff

Bessie June Huff, 102, of Staples, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024. Funeral services will take place at 11 am on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Church of Christ in Staples. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, and interment will be at Motley Public Cemetery.  

Bessie was born in Grey Eagle, MN on June 12, 1921, to Levi and Elta (Karnes) Shinabarger. She grew up in Long Prairie, Staples, and Philbrook areas. She was married to Glenn Huff on July 3, 1941, and together they settled in Motley. Bessie worked for many years at the Staples Hospital and at Maddens Resort. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her flowers, gardening, quilting, and attending church. She met so many wonderful people throughout her 102 years and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bessie is survived by her children Richard of Motley, Walter (Patricia) of Staples, Nancy (Gary) Nieken of Illinois, and Robert (Marie) of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glenn Huff; and three grandchildren Tanya Huff, Jameson Johnson/Nieken, and Joseph Marshall.
