Mrs. Elizabeth Eileen “Betty” Hildahl, 93, of Staples, MN, passed away on March 19, 2026, at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples. She is now with her Lord Jesus.
Elizabeth was born on December 13, 1932, to Robert and Oakley Gilbertson in Fulda, MN. She graduated from Fulda High School. After graduating, she worked as an administrative assistant in the Twin Cities. She married Kenneth Hildahl on May 2, 1960.
Elizabeth and Ken lived in Maplewood, Minnesota, and raised their two children (David and Amy) there. Later in life, they moved to the Hildahl family farm near Staples, where they raised beef cattle.
Elizabeth was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, helping to raise the beef cattle, and spending time with family. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed volunteering at various church events. She was known for being kind and loving to all those she met. Elizabeth will be missed by so many, and the consolation of the family is that Elizabeth is with Jesus.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Ken, her parents, and all her siblings (Marie, Robert, Helen, Gordon, Richard, Sally, Myron, and Jim). She is survived by her son David (Donna) of Staples, her daughter Amy (Stephen) of Chicago, four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Elizabeth will be held at Swan Valley Lutheran Church on Rt. 64 in Leader, MN on Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow the service.
