Obituary of Snodean Collins Jacobs – January 3, 1932 – January 1, 2026
Snodean Collins Jacobs went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Pittsboro Christian Village after years of declining health, just two days shy of her 94th birthday. She was born in her grandmother’s home in Hillsborough on January 3, 1932, to the late James Duncan Collins and Bessie Thompson Collins. She lived in Durham for most of her life.
She graduated from Bethesda School in Durham and worked at Golden Belt Manufacturing for 40 years until her retirement. She was married to the late Rev. Garland Jacobs for 27 years until his untimely death at age 50. The Lord used them to establish Bible Baptist Church in Durham (now Creedmoor) in 1959, where he served as pastor for nearly 20 years. She faithfully served the Lord at the church in multiple ministry roles alongside her husband and then as a widow for more than 46 years.
Snodean loved the Lord, loved her family, loved her church family, loved her neighbors, and was loved by them. She spent her last couple of years at Pittsboro Christian Village.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Brooks (husband Dale) of Durham, her daughter Joy McKay (husband Cary) of Weatherford, TX; four grandchildren – Melody Brooks of Durham, Travis Brooks (wife Christina) of Gibsonville, NC, Courtney Brooks of Durham, Jacob McKay of Weatherford, TX; and four great-grandchildren – Elliot, Ransom, Isaiah and Isabel Brooks of Gibsonville, and one on the way, along with many friends.
The family offers thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness and the long life He granted Snodean. They also offer special thanks to Sanila Thomas and her staff of nurses at Pittsboro Christian Village, as well as the nurses of Liberty Home Care & Hospice of Sanford, NC, all of whom provided loving care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in memory of Snodean Jacobs to Pittsboro Christian Village, 1825 East Street, Pittsboro, NC, 27312.
A funeral service for Snodean Jacobs will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 9th at Bible Baptist Church, 2047 Gate 2 Rd, Creedmoor, NC 27522, with Rev. Jimmy Hall, Rev. Greg Allison, and Rev. Dale Brooks officiating.
