Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 20, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Bessie S. LeBlanc, 93, who passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette.
Father Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Bessie was a lifelong resident of Cecilia. She met and married the love of her life of 73 years, Earl. Together they raised four children that she loved and adored fiercely. Bessie devoted not only her time to her family, but to the lives of the faculty and students at Cecilia Senior High as cafeteria manager. Over the years her co-workers became friends and family. If she wasn't in the kitchen cooking something delicious, she was working in her beautiful flower beds. Her love of flowers was like no other. Bessie touched the lives of many, but not like those of her family, her love will be cherished forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her sons, Richard LeBlanc (Donna) and Glynn LeBlanc (Judy); daughter, Phyllis Denny (Bob); sister, Maryann Blanchard; grandchildren, Melanie LeBlanc, Jonathan LeBlanc, Terrianne LeBlanc, Nick LeBlanc (Courtney), Sara Boudreaux (Scott), Lauren Meyers (Marc), Dray Gunter (Bethany) and Jennifer Vicknair; and a host of great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Earl James LeBlanc; son, Terry LeBlanc; and parents, Noah Serrette and Antoinette Melancon Serrette.
Pallbearers will be Glynn LeBlanc, Bobby Denny, Scott Boudreaux, Marc Meyers, Jonathan LeBlanc, and Nick LeBlanc.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard LeBlanc, Maryann Blanchard, and Ashton Meyers.
