Ms. Bessie Lou Hudson Lowman, age 94, of York, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Spring Oak in York.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Wanda Altman-Shirah. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
Born on January 8, 1931, in York County, Bessie was the daughter of the late William Smith Hudson and Hattie Steele Hudson. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert "Herb" Arthur Lowman. Bessie was a dedicated employee of Sullivan Carson and retired after many years as a Lab Technician and was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church in York.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Anthony Lowman (Shirley), Eric Lowman (Jan), Steven R. Lowman (Peggy), and Imogene Johnson. She also leaves behind her cherished nephew, Earl Hudson (Lynn), whom she loved as a son, along with nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her granddaughter Abbey Corbett Lowman, and her brothers: Charles Hudson, James Hudson, and William "Bill" Steele Hudson.
In memory of Bessie, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 376, York, SC 29745.
