Mr. Darrell Barrentine, age 70, of York, SC, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A service celebrating Darrell's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Bible Baptist Church, 255 US-21 Bypass, Fort Mill, SC 29715, with Preacher Jim Parrish officiating.
Darrell was born on July 6, 1954, in Marion, SC, to the late Larry Walter Sweat and Vera Barrentine Sweat. A proud veteran, Darrell served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Following his military service, he attended machinist school in Aberdeen, Maryland, and went on to have a long and fulfilling career at Meritor, where he worked for 43 years. Darrell was a faithful member at Bible Baptist Church in Fort Mill, SC.
Darrell is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Lynn Boatwright Barrentine; his beloved son, Derrick "Smiley" Barrentine (Jessica); and his cherished granddaughters, Margaret and Gracen. He is also survived by his brothers, Herman Barrentine (Kelly) and Michael Sweat, and his sister, Joyce Ann Taylor (Curtis).
In memory of Darrell, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, PO Box 266, Fort Mill, SC 29716.
