"The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish, But He casts away the desire of the wicked." – Proverbs 10:3

On September 27, 2025, in her hometown of Keller, Virginia, Bessie Vinnie Stevens peacefully departed this life at the age of 67. Born on August 31, 1958, in Keller, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Charles T. Vinnie Sr. and Christine Vinnie.

Bessie was educated in Accomack County Public Schools and furthered her studies at Eastern Shore Community College. She dedicated her life to hard work and skill, beginning as a welder at DuPont in Delaware for ten years. She later served as a Boiler Operator at Perdue Farms for two years, returned to her craft as a welder at Bayshore Concrete for five years-where she eventually retired-and finally worked in the Apparel Department at Walmart for seven years, where she brought her warm spirit and friendly smile to coworkers and customers alike.

On August 16, 2008, Bessie was united in marriage to Larry Gene Stevens, with whom she shared 17 years of love, laughter, and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, family, and faith. Larry stood faithfully by her side, and their union was a source of joy and strength to them both.

A devoted member of Herbert Baptist Church, Bessie served as an usher, always greeting others with kindness and grace. Outside of work and church, she enjoyed life's simple pleasures: playing computer games, keeping up with her beloved soap operas, and reading The Daily Bread, which nurtured her faith each day.

Bessie was a woman of strength, faith, and devotion to family. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings James Vinnie, Bernard Vinnie, Shirley Edmund, and William Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Larry G. Stevens. She also leaves behind her cherished step-daughters-Yvonne, Yvette, Cassandra, Felicia, and Consandra-and her treasured ten grandchildren. Her memory will also be carried on by her siblings, Charles Vinnie Jr., George Vinnie, and Barbra Mae Snead; her grand-nephews, Jesiah Smith and Jalen Crowder, who were like sons to her; and her extended family of in-laws, Rosemary Vinnie, McKinley and Janet Price, Kenneth and Donna Stevens, and Larry and Carolyn Bland. Bessie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom all will miss her dearly.

Bessie will be remembered for her unwavering love, her quiet strength, and the joy she brought to the lives of her family and friends. Her presence was a blessing, and her legacy of faith and devotion will live on in all who loved her.
