Bessie A. Tayson, age 81, of Bel Air, MD, died on July 27, 2009 at her daughter's home. Born in Cripple Creek, VA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Albert and Lydia Belle Scott Fender and wife, for 38 years, of the late Leander Morris Tayson. She had worked for Bata Shoe Company for 12 years and Ames Department Store in Churchville for 8 years. A 1948 graduate of Jackson Memorial High School in Austinville, VA, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Tayson is survived by her sons, Clinton Tayson and wife, Barbara Chalk, of Joppatowne, MD and Daniel Tayson of Red Lion, PA; daughters, Ruth Tayson of Palm Springs, FL, Susan Tayson-Amos, and husband, Wade, of Delta, PA, Donna Tayson and husband, Paul Knoph, of Aberdeen, MD, Rhonda and Mark Porter of Olathe, KS, and Robin and Jesse Brewer of Rising Sun, MD; brother, William Fred Fender of Cana, VA; sister, M. Ruth Wood and husband, Claude, of Port Deposit, MD; grandchildren, Sara Horn and husband, Jason, of Aberdeen, MD, Joseph Tayson of Bel Air, MD, Debbie Ruehling and husband, Mike, of Aberdeen, MD, Wyatt and Andrew Amos of Delta, PA, Ken Knoph, and wife, Nicole, of Abingdon, MD, Kelly Gealy and husband, Mike, of Abingdon, MD, Kate Hart and husband, Brad, of Vass, NC, Brandy Gardner of Olathe, KS, PFC Christopher Porter of Olathe, KS, Jacob and Jessica Tayson of Delta, PA, and Luke, Logan, Gabe, and Gage Brewer of Rising Sun, MD; and great-grandchildren, Lea Horn of Aberdeen, MD, Erin and Megan Gealy of Abingdon, MD, Payton and Kendall Knoph of Abingdon, MD, and Jonathan and James Gardner of Olathe, KS; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Walter Fender, Rufus (Cub) Fender, David Fender, Pete Fender, and Madeline Lineberry. Pallbearers will be Ron Wood, Wyatt Amos, Joseph Tayson, Chris Porter, Jacob Tayson, Bill Fender, Robert Fender, and Ray Fender. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Towne Baptist Church, 536 Trimble Road, Joppa, MD 21085.
