Mrs. Bessie Mae Wright was born in Herndon, GA (Jenkins County); she was the daughter of Ms. India Lewis and Mr. Roosevelt Benjamin on May 1, 1925.
She was raised in the Herndon Community by a loving mother Mrs. India Brady and loving stepfather, Mr. Henry Brady.
At an early age she joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully. She enjoyed the duties as of a good Samaritan, a servant of the Lord, a mother, a grandmother, aunt, and a friend to all who knew her. Until June 1, 2021, she was the eldest member of St. John's, and loved every minute.
She was employed for many years with Keller Industries in Waynesboro, GA. After retirement she found extended friendships with the members of the Jenkins County Senior Citizen's Group until her health no longer allowed her to participate. She had a love for fishing, cooking, crocheting, and gardening; but her undying love was that of her grandchildren. A warm smile, a joy to be around, we will miss you mama.
Ms. Bessie leaves a treasure of memories for her son and his family, Larry Donell and Joyce A. Gibbons; her grandchildren, Alicia D. Gibbons and L.D. Gibbons, II; her stepchildren, Robert Wright, Jr., Tom Wright, Otis Wright, Charles Wright, Alma (Willie) Newton, Eddie and Harold Simmons, and an incredibly special daughter-in-law, Brinnie Lewis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
