Beth M. Meier, age 77, of Breese, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born on December 30, 1947, in Breese, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Vera (née Lott) Schroer. Beth married Marvin Meier, on May 31, 1975, at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose, and he survives.
Beth is also survived by her beloved children, Joseph Meier (friend Krysta Hahn) of Breese, and Karen (Patrick) Smith of Streator; cherished grandchildren, Allison and Michael Smith; her sister, Barb (John) Rinderer of Aviston; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mabel Emma of Lee Summit, MO, Lucy Suchy of St. Albans, WV, and Dennis (Sheila) Meier of Breese; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Schroer and Mary Schroer; her father- and mother-in-law, Melge and Emma (née Sanker) Meier; and her in-laws, Melge (Pat) Meier, Jr., Wayne (Nancy) Meier, Elena Meier, Frank Emma, and Tom Suchy.
Beth earned her degree as a Medical Lab Technician from Belleville Area College and dedicated many years of service to St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese before retiring. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, the Gateway East Artist Guild, and the HSHS St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.
A gifted and passionate artist, Beth found joy in working with paint, colored pencils, and pastels. Her creativity blossomed in her flower garden, and she loved traveling and making memories with her family-especially cherishing every moment with her grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.
Visitation will take place prior to the service on Friday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorial donations may be made to HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Lights for Scholarship and will be accepted at the visitation or by mail to Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is honored to serve the Meier family.
